Why I’ve started a blog

December 31st, 2019 โˆ™ Introduction, Topics

To be honest, I’ve never really had a personal blog before. Any blogging/writing that I’ve undertaken has been on ServerSideUp. That writing is primarily tech tutorials. Recently I’ve found myself wanting to collaborate more with others and discuss topics outside of a tech tutorial. Such topics include wild ideas on how to collaborate and solve problems, thoughts and opinions ON tech, recommended books, adventures, dealing with anxiety, etc. Since we try to keep ServerSideUp focused as a valuable technical resource for those wanting to learn and implement technologies, I’ve decided to start up a personal blog.

For those of you who regularly read ServerSideUp, don’t worry, it’s DEFINITELY not taking a back burner. As a matter of fact, it’s probably going to get some more traction! One of my intentions is to start using this platform to discuss new ideas and thoughts around tech. In turn, that could generate a lot of new tutorials.

So, what are some of these topics of discussion?

Well, there’s going to be a variety, some of which are fun and happy, others are personal and deep. I’d definitely intend on sharing both sides of the coin. I love technology so there will be a lot of thoughts shared on my opinions and use cases for it.

My passion outside of tech is the world of coffee. Anything from growing beans, roasting them, brewing them, to enjoying the conversation around a cup shared with friends. The entire coffee culture is amazing and I will definitely be sharing experiences and would love to hear yours!

Along with coffee, I’ve developed a passion for reading books. In fact, I’ve made an entire section on the blog dedicated to writing about the books I’ve read. You can find that on the “Library” link. Book recommendations are always welcome!

I’m also passionate about traveling, woodworking, music, learning new ways to work out and eat healthier, so I’m positive some posts will be centered around those topics as well.

Some of the other topics I plan on discussing are anxiety, self-discipline, and how I have navigated the world struggling with both. With anxiety, it can be a day to day struggle, some days it’s better, some days it’s worse. For any one experiencing it, it’s never fun. I can’t say I’ve conquered it, nor even scratched the surface of dealing with it entirely. However, I’ve read a few books and applied some concepts to help cope and if it helps someone else, then awesome!

How can I get involved?

So my goal for this blog is to use it as a safe medium to have in-depth discussions on a variety of topics and to meet more incredible, creative, passionate individuals so I can learn from them. In order to do this, I highly encourage sending me a message though the contact form, or joining the conversation on Twitter (@danpastori). Feel free to reach out with any questions, comments, concerns, book recommendations, coffee ideas, etc. I’d love to hear from you!
