Hi, I'm Dan!
Hi, I'm Dan. I'm a software developer who loves building things for the web and sharing what I learn along the way.
What I Do
I'm passionate about creating software applications that solve real world problems. Since 2011, Jay Rogers and I have been running 521 Dimensions and Server Side Up, creating software for clients and solving our own needs. It's been a complete blessing to solve problems for our customers and for ourselves.
What I love about software development is it applies to practically every field or hobby. Each day could bring an entirely new problem with new tools and a new approach. Seeing the results of designing an application that optimizes a process or finds hidden value in data is an amazing feeling.
Interests
I love a lot more than software development. Specialty coffee, stock investing, high quality audio, woodworking, cooking and gardening. I'll definitely share some of these experiences as well.
What I find interesting about these hobbies is they are minimal overhead to get started, but can be infinitely complex and challenge the mind the farther you dive in. They also blend into a neat intersection of technology and primal. A "working with your hands" approach and different thought patterns.
Personal Life
While I find enjoyment in my work and hobbies, true enjoyment comes from spending time with my family, basking in the beauty of nature, and simple every day activities shared with loved ones. Everything I do goes to support these moments.
A Note on AI
One expectation of this blog is you can expect to read articles written by me. In the age of AI, I feel that it's important to note. While I use AI as a tool in other areas of my life, I fully believe that human to human communication should be written and done by a human.
With that being said, I'm going to share my own opinions, in my own voice, written 100% by me.
I'd love to discuss any of the blog posts I write. The goal is to connect with others! Feel free to reach out via email or the social media links below.
